Cloudflare has opened a closed beta of its Monetization Gateway, which lets website owners and API providers charge AI agents for web access and services. They can receive pay-as-you-go micropayments in the USDC stablecoin for each interaction.
The system is designed for the emerging “agentic” economy, where software agents transact autonomously. It uses the HTTP 402 “Payment Required” standard, with payments settled on the Base blockchain.
The launch adds the “sell-side” infrastructure to Cloudflare’s machine-to-machine payment ecosystem. Cloudflare announced Cloudflare Wallets for AI agents in August 2026, providing the “buy-side” component.
