Cloudflare has launched two open-weight multimodal decision models, Clef and Clef-flash, positioning them as faster and more accurate alternatives to the Jev model from Typesafe AI. The new models are designed for fast, structured classification tasks rather than text generation and can process images and video.

Built upon Alibaba's Qwen model architecture, both Clef and Clef-flash are being released under an Apache 2.0 license. The models are available for use on Cloudflare's Workers AI platform, and their weights have been made accessible on the Hugging Face repository for developers to run locally.
