Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones requested that state regulators restart the 180-day review period for the $67 billion NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy merger. This formal request to the State Corporation Commission (SCC) follows new commitments submitted by the utilities on September 14.
The supplemental filing proposes doubling residential customer bill credits to a four-year duration. The companies also offered to extend job protections for Virginia employees to five years.
Jones argues these substantial changes constitute an amendment requiring a fresh review timeline for all parties. NextEra and Dominion maintain the information is supplemental and should not delay the existing schedule.
