The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has concluded its investigation into a widespread Cyclospora outbreak, finding strong evidence linking infections to recalled iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, a supplier to the salad industry.

The outbreak caused more than 12,800 cases across 21 states. Hundreds of people were hospitalized. Two people died.

The Marzetti Company's President and CEO, Dave Ciesinski, said the outbreak significantly affected the company's salad mix and dressing business. The investigation's conclusion provides clarity on the outbreak's source for companies such as Marzetti, which operate in the affected market segment.

The findings could influence consumer confidence and supply-chain dynamics across the packaged salads industry.
