Samsung’s preliminary forecast puts third-quarter operating profit at approximately 107.4 trillion won, or about $80.1 billion. That would be an increase of about 782% year over year. The profit forecast sets a company record and exceeds many analyst estimates.

Revenue is projected at 195 trillion won, or about $145.7 billion. That would be a 127% increase year over year. The forecast is slightly below some market expectations.

The surge in profitability is driven primarily by booming demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are essential to AI infrastructure. Sustained global demand for AI has contributed to a memory-chip shortage, pushing prices higher and lifting profits for major manufacturers.

The forecast would mark Samsung’s fourth consecutive quarter of record operating profit, reflecting the strength of the current memory super-cycle.
