MicroStrategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor announced a new U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) innovation exemption. This allows U.S. investors to trade tokenized MicroStrategy (MSTR) shares 24/7 on-chain. Saylor described the development as a major breakthrough for digital credit and American capital markets.

The SEC granted a five-year relief period for tokenized stocks to trade on venues utilizing automated market makers (AMMs). These venues are not required to register as traditional exchanges under the new regulatory framework.

This approval supports Saylor's goal of integrating company equity with the digital asset ecosystem to enhance liquidity. MicroStrategy and other crypto-linked stocks rose in premarket trading following the announcement.
