Bain & Company released an analysis today forecasting that AI-related computing demand could generate $6 trillion in annual revenue by 2031. Major technology firms, including Microsoft, are sharply increasing capital expenditures to build the infrastructure needed to meet that demand.

The long-term outlook comes as investors weigh Microsoft's financial commitments to AI. Azure continues to grow rapidly, driven by AI demand, while some analysts say rising capital expenditures are weighing on free cash flow in the short term.

Microsoft also announced it will redirect a $5 million development incentive to provide property tax relief in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, home to one of its data center campuses.
