SemiAnalysis expects companies to add more than 50 gigawatts (GW) of data-center capacity in 2027. Artificial intelligence is driving the expansion through its intense infrastructure demands. The build-out is expected to continue despite power constraints, labor shortages and supply-chain issues.
More than 24 GW of capacity is already in advanced construction. These projects span 40 campuses scheduled for delivery in 2027. SemiAnalysis also reports that more than $1 trillion in non-cancellable data-center leases have been signed year-to-date. Those leases underpin aggressive expansion plans by hyperscalers including Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
