OpenAI had a “pretty rough” first half of 2026 as competitor Anthropic gained ground, President Greg Brockman said at a Wall Street Journal conference. He said the company saw a significant revenue inflection in the third quarter, marking a turnaround for the ChatGPT maker.
Brockman said sales to businesses now make up the majority of OpenAI’s revenue. The shift exceeds the company’s earlier goal of reaching parity between business and consumer sales.
OpenAI is focusing on enterprise customers, including by promoting its Codex coding agent, as it competes with rivals such as Anthropic. The company is also eyeing a potential IPO in 2027.
