Microsoft will host a major event in San Francisco on October 7, 2026, focused on the future of the PC and local, on-device artificial intelligence. CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Devices chief Pavan Davuluri, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang are scheduled to speak. The event is widely expected to include the official launch and release details for new Surface hardware, including the much-anticipated Surface Laptop Ultra.

The keynote will reportedly show how the devices, powered by advanced chips such as Nvidia’s RTX Spark, can handle generative and agentic AI tasks directly on the machine.

Microsoft sees local AI as a key way to drive upgrades across Windows and Surface. Those businesses have generated weaker revenue than the company’s booming cloud business. The announcements could provide a new catalyst for Microsoft’s PC-related segments.
