Microsoft plans to more than triple its global data center capacity by 2032.

The company aims to expand its current 12-gigawatt infrastructure to over 38 gigawatts. This expansion responds to a computing shortage that forced Microsoft to decline some AI and cloud business.

Artificial intelligence will account for roughly one-third of the total future capacity. AI-dedicated infrastructure will grow from 2 gigawatts today to meet this requirement.

The buildout includes both owned and leased facilities to maintain Microsoft's cloud market leadership. This project represents one of the largest single-company cloud capacity increases on record.
