Nasdaq said Moderna (MRNA) will join the Nasdaq-100 Index before the market opens on October 9, 2026. Moderna will replace Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) in the index, which includes the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq stock market.

Warner Bros. Discovery is leaving the index following its pending merger with Paramount-Skydance. Passive funds that track the Nasdaq-100 will need to buy Moderna shares to rebalance their portfolios, potentially increasing demand and trading volume.
