Mercer International's Rosenthal NBSK pulp mill in Germany remains suspended as of October 13, 2026. The 360,000-tonne-per-year capacity mill became idle on October 1st. This interrupted its restart after a planned four-week maintenance shutdown.

The halt followed reports of discoloration in the River Saale near the mill's wastewater discharge point. Mercer International has gradually resumed wastewater discharge, coordinating with authorities. However, the company has not provided a specific date for resuming pulp production. The continued suspension could negatively affect Mercer's output and financial results for the quarter.
