MongoDB has made MongoDB 9.0 generally available and launched a public preview of Atlas Infinite. The releases are designed for the growing demands of AI-powered applications and large-scale, mission-critical workloads.

MongoDB 9.0 delivers up to twice the throughput on large instances compared with the previous version. Reads are up to 35% faster, while updates are up to 30% faster.

Atlas Infinite introduces a new architecture for MongoDB’s cloud database platform by separating compute and storage. This lets customers scale each independently to handle unpredictable demand spikes, including those associated with AI agent workloads.

The architecture is designed to reduce scaling time by more than 96% and improve cost-efficiency for customers with highly variable traffic.
