Mastercard has opened early developer access to Agent Pay for Machines, a platform that lets AI agents autonomously buy digital services. The launch follows successful end-to-end pilots with Coinbase, Cloudflare and Base, Coinbase’s blockchain network.

Agents can pay for services such as data access and image generation within budgets approved in advance by their human operators. At the Cloudflare Connect event, a live demonstration showed an agent making multiple payments to two service providers for a marketing campaign.

The platform supports traditional cards, bank accounts and stablecoins. Coinbase provides wallet infrastructure, while Base handles on-chain settlement for crypto transactions.
