Lyft launched fully autonomous Waymo robotaxi rides in Nashville today. This expansion marks the second U.S. city where Lyft provides driverless trips.

Users requesting specific ride types in central Nashville may receive a Waymo vehicle at no additional cost. Nashville represents the first market where vehicles appear on both the Waymo and Lyft applications.

The move deepens the partnership between Lyft and Alphabet-owned Waymo. It intensifies competition with Uber. Uber also maintains a multi-city agreement with Waymo for autonomous rides.

Lyft subsidiary Flexdrive will manage the Nashville fleet. The team will service and charge vehicles at a purpose-built facility to integrate autonomous technology into the network.
