The UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) authorized Eli Lilly’s (LLY) once-daily pill, Foundayo.
Foundayo (orforglipron) treats both weight management and type 2 diabetes. This authorization marks the first European approval for an oral GLP-1 drug.
The approval applies to adults with obesity or overweight patients with at least one weight-related health condition.
Foundayo is not yet available through the National Health Service (NHS). The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) will evaluate the drug for potential NHS use.
