Centrus Energy (LEU) shares rose 7% on Monday. The Wall Street Journal’s Heard on the Street column highlighted the company as a safer way to bet on the nuclear sector.
The article noted that Centrus uses proven technology and does not depend on speculative future developments for revenue. The company is currently rebuilding the U.S. uranium-enrichment supply chain as Russian imports are phased out.
Centrus holds the only U.S. license to produce the highly enriched uranium required by advanced reactor designs. It is the only enrichment firm using exclusively domestic components.
The column argued the stock deserves an energy security premium due to its role in U.S. national security. Global utilities are increasingly seeking alternatives to Russian and Chinese nuclear supplies.
