Kaynes Technology India is expanding into the upstream semiconductor supply chain through its subsidiary, Kaynes Semicon. The company is exploring joint ventures for wafer fabrication, specialized materials, and equipment manufacturing.

This expansion aligns with the Indian government’s push to build a domestic chip ecosystem. Kaynes Semicon intends to apply for subsidies under the ₹1.28 lakh crore India Semiconductor Mission (ISM 2.0) by mid-August 2026.

The move signals a strategic shift from chip packaging to a more integrated role in the semiconductor value chain. The initiative builds upon the company’s operational Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
