Saudi Arabia has postponed its Future Investment Initiative (FII), known as “Davos in the Desert,” until 2027 due to escalating security concerns. The decision follows a series of missile and drone attacks by Houthi rebels, including strikes on Riyadh’s international airport. The attacks raised safety concerns for global executives scheduled to attend the event from October 26 to 29.
The postponement was announced after reports that top Wall Street leaders were reconsidering their travel plans. The conference was expected to host the CEOs of JPMorgan Chase, BlackRock, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and Blackstone.
The delay is a setback for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to attract foreign capital and showcase its economic diversification plans under Vision 2030.
