JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon warned that third-party AI agents making payments for consumers could create serious risks. Speaking at The Economic Club of Chicago and on the bank’s Q3 earnings call, he said giving an agent a bank code effectively puts it “inside your bank,” with no guarantee it will act in the customer’s best interest.
Dimon warned of “rogue agents” and called their actions potentially “treacherous” for the bank. He said customers need to understand the “liability transfer,” as they could be responsible if their data is misused. His comments come as companies such as Meta launch consumer AI assistants that can handle tasks for users.
JPMorgan is developing its own protective tools and will not allow outside AI agents to access its internal systems, Dimon said, citing risks to clients and the firm. The bank is also piloting its AI-driven Smart Cash tool.
