JPMorgan Chase is one of 20 major financial institutions participating in a new securities tokenization service from the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). The service went live on October 28, 2026, allowing participants to convert securities held at DTCC’s depository into blockchain-based tokens.

The initiative aims to connect traditional financial markets with digital asset technology, supporting more efficient transactions and improved collateral mobility. Other participants include Bank of America, Citi, Morgan Stanley, and Fidelity Investments. The tokens, described as “digital twins,” retain the ownership rights and investor protections of the underlying securities.

The service initially operates on the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network. DTCC plans to add support for more blockchains in 2027.

The launch follows a December 2025 SEC no-action letter authorizing the tokenization of assets such as Russell 1000 stocks, major index ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries.
