Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen unit secured a preliminary injunction blocking the U.S. launch of the first biosimilars for its immunology drugs Simponi and Simponi Aria. The order prevents partners Accord BioPharma and Bio-Thera Solutions from marketing their recently approved interchangeable biosimilars, which were expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The court granted the injunction on October 2, 2026, in a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Janssen. Accord and Bio-Thera have appealed the decision. The injunction temporarily shields the J&J products from biosimilar competition while the litigation proceeds.
