IREN Limited (NASDAQ: IREN) announced its 2-gigawatt Sweetwater Hub in Texas has been conditionally included as a Base Load resource. The designation occurred through the ERCOT Batch Zero process. This classification manages the impact of large power consumers on the Texas electrical grid.
The Sweetwater Hub is part of IREN's 5GW global data center development portfolio. The Texas hub consists of two projects.
Construction is underway for the first 300MW of capacity at the Sweetwater 1 site. Delivery is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The move advances IREN's strategy to develop AI cloud platforms in energy-rich regions.
