Intel has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Classiq, a Tel Aviv-based startup that develops software for quantum computers. The deal aims to combine Classiq’s software platform with Intel’s hardware and manufacturing capabilities to create a full-stack quantum computing provider. The companies did not disclose financial terms. Some reports have valued the deal at more than $2 billion.

Founded in 2020, Classiq offers a hardware-agnostic platform that automates and simplifies the design of quantum algorithms and applications. The company has raised more than $200 million in funding. It employs approximately 150 people. Intel plans to draw on its silicon spin-qubit technology and large-scale semiconductor manufacturing expertise to accelerate the commercialization of quantum computing.
