Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said the Trump administration does not interfere in the chipmaker’s business strategy, despite the U.S. government’s significant equity stake. In an interview with Nikkei, Tan said the government has no influence over Intel’s governance and that the company operates independently.
The comments reassure markets about Intel’s autonomy. The U.S. government acquired a nearly 10% stake in the company in August 2025 to bolster America’s domestic semiconductor industry and strengthen supply chain resilience.
