Infineon Technologies AG and Wolfspeed, Inc. have expanded and extended their long-term silicon carbide (SiC) wafer supply agreement. The multi-year deal adds 200mm wafers to the existing 150mm supply arrangement. The companies have worked together for more than two decades.
The agreement supports Infineon’s shift to larger-wafer manufacturing, which can produce more chips per wafer and improve cost efficiency. A reliable supply of SiC wafers will help Infineon meet growing demand for power semiconductors used in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and AI data centers.
The deal supports Infineon’s global manufacturing network, including its 200mm SiC factory in Kulim, Malaysia. For Wolfspeed, it reinforces the company’s position as a global silicon carbide technology manufacturer.
