HP, Asus, and Acer have started using DRAM chips from China’s ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) for laptops sold in non-US markets.

This move responds to a global memory shortage and rising costs fueled by massive demand for AI infrastructure. Dominant manufacturers Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are currently diverting supply to meet AI needs.

The validation of CXMT chips by leading global brands signals a significant milestone for China’s semiconductor industry. PC makers are using the partnership to diversify supply chains, though initial volumes remain limited.
