Hewlett Packard Enterprise will deploy its Spaceborne Computer-4 to the Moon's surface. The computer will run the first high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence benchmarks in the lunar environment. The advanced compute module withstands harsh space conditions.
The system will serve as a payload on Astrolab's FLIP rover. The rover is scheduled to launch in late 2026. This launch forms part of a NASA commercial mission.
Once on the lunar South Pole, the computer will process data for navigation, vision inference, and running large language models. This aims to advance scientific discovery for future space exploration.
