HIVE Digital Technologies subsidiary Bikupan Datacenter has entered financial restructuring in Sweden. The Swedish Tax Agency issued a $51 million back tax demand against the operation. This liability stems from a broader tax audit involving six cryptocurrency mining firms.
HIVE disputes the classification, claiming it only sells computing capacity to external mining pools. CEO Johanna Törnblad maintains that independent entities conduct the actual mining activities. The company appealed the tax assessment to the Supreme Administrative Court, where the case remains pending.
