China’s National Bureau of Statistics reported a 24.7% year-over-year increase in April industrial profits on May 27th. This growth represents the fastest expansion since November 2023. The data signals a strengthening economic recovery and rising industrial metal demand.

Profits in the non-ferrous metals sector, including copper, jumped 117.8% during the first four months of the year. The bureau attributed this surge to high demand from artificial intelligence and high-tech industries.

These figures reinforce a bullish outlook for copper amid ongoing global supply disruptions. Consumption from the energy transition and new technologies continues to support prices at elevated levels.
