MSCI announced that it will remove PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) from its Global Standard Indexes as part of its August 2026 quarterly review. [7, 8] The change is scheduled to take effect after the close of trading on August 31, 2026. [8, 9]
The deletion is due to persistent low liquidity after the company's stock price remained at the minimum tradeable price of 50 rupiah on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since mid-May. [2, 4, 16] This situation raised concerns about the ability of index-tracking investors to trade the shares. [2, 10] MSCI had previously frozen changes to the stock's status in its May review, warning of a potential removal if liquidity did not improve. [4, 14]
This decision is another setback for the Indonesian tech giant, which was also removed from a FTSE Russell global index in June for related reasons. [2, 4] GoTo stated that the MSCI exclusion was a technical decision based on trading volume and not reflective of the company's business performance. [4]
