Google has begun testing an experimental feature named "Call for Me," which allows its Gemini AI to place phone calls to businesses on a user's behalf. The feature is designed to handle routine tasks such as booking appointments, checking store inventory, or making restaurant reservations. Gemini will introduce itself as an AI assistant, navigate phone menus, wait on hold, and conduct the conversation.

The early preview of "Call for Me" is rolling out exclusively to paid Gemini subscribers in the U.S. using the new Pixel 11 series of phones and who are enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta. Users will be able to monitor the call via a live transcript and can take over the conversation at any point, ensuring they remain in control.
