Jack Clark, Anthropic co-founder, has moved up his forecast for full Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI). In his Import AI newsletter, Clark said he now believes RSI is more likely to be possible in 2027, one year earlier than his previous forecast of 2028.
RSI refers to AI autonomously and rapidly improving its own capabilities without human intervention. Clark cited the accelerating pace of AI development, particularly progress in research creativity and performance on new benchmarks.
His revised forecast suggests transformative AI could arrive sooner than many expect.
