A U.S. district court in Delaware overturned a jury verdict that would have required Gogo Inc. to pay $22.7 million to SmartSky Networks. The court ruled that SmartSky had not provided sufficient evidence of legally recoverable damages.
The ruling reverses a November 2025 jury verdict that found Gogo’s 5G air-to-ground inflight connectivity service infringed four SmartSky patents.
Gogo welcomed the decision, calling it a significant step toward resolving the ongoing dispute. The ruling removes a considerable financial overhang for Gogo, but its stock’s decline over the past year did not immediately reverse. SmartSky may appeal the decision.
