Gilead Sciences partnered with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to accelerate access to lenacapavir across Latin America and the Caribbean. The agreement utilizes PAHO's Regional Revolving Funds to establish a coordinated distribution pathway for the twice-yearly injectable HIV prevention drug.

This collaboration provides a new access route for 14 countries currently excluded from Gilead's existing voluntary licensing agreements. The long-acting pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) treatment aims to address rising regional infection rates and overcome adherence challenges linked to daily oral medications.

Gilead also expanded royalty-free voluntary licensing for an investigational once-yearly version of lenacapavir. This separate agreement covers 120 high-incidence, resource-limited countries.
