Bolivia overhauled its gold-trading system by ending the central bank’s purchasing program. The government eased private sector export restrictions to increase U.S. dollar availability.
This policy reversal ends a three-year mandate requiring central bank certification for gold shipments. Exporters must now prove they deposited 80% of previous export values into the national banking system.
Central Bank President David Espinoza confirmed the bank will no longer buy gold. The shift redirects sovereign gold supplies back into the private international market.
