Grayscale announced on October 21, 2026, that it has enabled in-kind investing for 10 of its crypto exchange-traded products. Eligible investors can contribute the underlying digital assets directly to the products in exchange for shares, rather than investing cash.
The change is intended to make it easier for investors who already hold cryptocurrencies to move into Grayscale’s regulated investment products. The affected products include the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (BTC) and the Grayscale Dogecoin Trust ETF (GDOG), among others.
In-kind investing is common in traditional ETFs, including those that hold gold, but is a more recent development for US-based spot crypto ETFs.
