Rosatom and Finnish utility Fortum have each highlighted favorable aspects of an International Chamber of Commerce tribunal ruling in their dispute over the cancelled Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant project. Fortum was part of the Finnish consortium Fennovoima, which cancelled its construction contract with Rosatom, citing delays and increased risks after the war in Ukraine began.

Rosatom said on Saturday that the tribunal had ruled in its favor. Details of the decision remain confidential. Fennovoima also said parts of the ruling favored it.

The complex legal battle involves claims and counterclaims for billions of euros in damages and project-related costs. The parties’ differing interpretations suggest the financial dispute may require further legal proceedings or negotiations.
