Fannie Mae (FNMA) released its August 2026 mortgage portfolio report, showing that the seriously delinquent multifamily mortgage rate—loans 60 or more days past due—was 0.57%. That was down from 0.62% in July.

Despite the monthly decline, market observers say delinquencies across the multifamily sector are rising and have reached multi-year highs. Rising interest rates make it harder for property owners to refinance and manage debt.
