Fincantieri’s Norwegian subsidiary, Vard, signed a contract exceeding €220 million with Trinity House. The agreement covers the design and construction of two multi-purpose vessels for the General Lighthouse Authority for England, Wales, the Channel Islands, and Gibraltar.

The new ships will replace two existing vessels in the Trinity House fleet. These units will perform buoy maintenance, lighthouse support, hydrographic surveys, and emergency response.

Vard will build the vessels using the Vard 9 601 design at a Norwegian shipyard. The first vessel delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2029. The second unit will follow in the fourth quarter of 2029.

The vessels will feature hybrid propulsion systems and batteries to enable zero-emission operations in port. The design includes preparations for a future conversion to methanol power.

Fincantieri shares rose 0.1% following the announcement.
