A consortium formed by Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings has agreed to buy AT&T’s wireless operations in Mexico for approximately $2 billion. The deal was announced on October 15, 2026, and marks AT&T’s exit from the Mexican wireless market as it sharpens its focus on its U.S. 5G and fiber networks.
AT&T Mexico was the country’s second-largest mobile operator, with around 24.7 million subscribers at the end of 2025.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, pending regulatory approvals. For Grupo Televisa, the acquisition expands its presence in wireless telecommunications and complements its cable and satellite services.
After the announcement, Grupo Televisa shares (TV) rose more than 7%.
