AT&T and Corning Incorporated have signed a multi-year agreement worth more than $3 billion. Corning will supply fiber-optic cable for AT&T’s network expansion, which aims to bring fast, reliable internet service to more U.S. homes and businesses.

Demand for data is rising with the adoption of AI and continued growth in streaming, gaming and cloud services. Average data use per AT&T Fiber household has increased fivefold since 2016. It is projected to more than double again by 2030.

The agreement supports U.S. infrastructure built with American-made products and AT&T’s unionized workforce. It is intended to secure supplies for AT&T’s expansion plans and reinforce fiber as a foundation for future connectivity.
