AT&T agreed to sell its Mexican business to a partnership of Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash. This transaction marks the company’s total exit from the Mexican market.
The divestment concludes a venture that began in 2014 through the acquisitions of Iusacell and Nextel Mexico. AT&T previously spent more than $10 billion to build out its infrastructure in the region.
Management will redirect capital toward expanding domestic 5G and fiber networks. This move aligns with a strategy to streamline operations and focus on U.S. infrastructure.
The sale is pending regulatory approval in Mexico. Both parties anticipate a closing date in the first quarter of 2027.
