Swedish private equity firm EQT has launched its Middle East platform and opened a new office in Abu Dhabi. This move establishes a direct presence in the Gulf to support portfolio companies and strengthen relationships with regional institutional investors.
Jimmy Mahtani will lead the new platform as Chairman of GCC. The Abu Dhabi office will serve as the primary hub for the firm’s regional operations.
EQT is targeting investment opportunities in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and technology. These sectors align with the national development agendas of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The expansion follows a trend of global investment firms increasing their footprint in the Gulf. Firms are moving closer to major sovereign wealth funds and a rising volume of regional deals.
