Equinor shut down production at its Visund oil and gas platform in the North Sea on Wednesday after a fire broke out in an electrical system. An Equinor spokesperson confirmed the fire was extinguished.

Seventy people were evacuated from the platform as a safety measure. Equinor has not said when production will resume.

The Visund field began production in 1999 and is a key Equinor asset in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea.
