Egypt plans to launch a foreign direct investment (FDI) strategy developed with the World Bank to strengthen the country’s production and export capabilities. The strategy will focus on about 16 priority sectors, shifting from broad investment promotion to matching investors with opportunities that support Egypt’s economic goals.

The initiative is part of a wider effort to improve the investment climate by making it easier to do business, localizing development and reducing investor risks. The government is also testing a digital platform to streamline capital-increase procedures.

The strategy aims to build on Egypt’s position as Africa’s leading FDI destination and deepen its integration into global supply chains.
