Norway’s primary electronic identification system, BankID, suffered a severe multi-day outage starting September 3, 2026. Technical supplier DXC Technology manages the infrastructure linked to the disruption.
The failure specifically disabled digital signing services, halting real estate transactions and legal document processing. A large portion of the Norwegian population remains unable to access essential banking and public services. BankID and DXC Technology are currently working to resolve the complex technical issue.
