Leonardo DRS, Inc. received a $63 million production order from the U.S. Army for its next-generation Family of Weapon Sights – Individual (FWS-I) thermal weapon sight system. The order falls under the Army’s existing indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for advanced thermal weapon sight systems for dismounted soldiers.
The lightweight FWS-I uses thermal imaging and wirelessly connects with soldier-worn vision devices. It is designed to improve situational awareness and enable rapid target acquisition.
Separately, at the AUSA Annual 2026 exhibition, Leonardo DRS unveiled its cxMHR, a fully digital, software-defined C-band AESA radar for integrated air and missile defense. The company has initiated initial series production of the system.
The cxMHR is designed to detect and track aerial threats, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
