A union at Micron Technology’s facility in Taoyuan, Taiwan, voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike after negotiations with the U.S. chipmaker stalled over a new profit-sharing plan. Ninety-nine percent of participating members supported the measure.

Taiwan is a critical manufacturing hub for Micron, accounting for a majority of the company’s DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production. The union is seeking a permanent system that allocates 15% of operating profit to employee bonuses, which it says would align with practices at other major chipmakers.

No strike date has been set. The union has urged Micron to present a concrete proposal to avert a walkout.
